ITTF confirms venues for upcoming China events

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has confirmed the host venues for its upcoming Women’s World Cup, Men’s World Cup and ITTF Finals events, which will take place in China and form part of the body’s #RESTART series.

The Women’s World Cup will take place from November 8-10, with the men’s event to follow from November 13-15. Both events will be held at the newly-opened, 4,000-seat Weihai Nanhai Olympic Center in Weihai, Shandong province. The arena is currently hosting the China National Table Tennis Championships.

The ITTF Finals have been scheduled for November 19-22 at the Zhengzhou Olympic Sports Center in Zhengzhou, Henan province. The 16,000-seat venue staged the 2019 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals and will once again be the setting for the final ITTF event of the year.

The ITTF said it is in discussions with the local organising committee of the Finals event about the possibility of allowing spectators into the arena.

The ITTF is staging the #RESTART series in China with the support of the Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA). A bubble approach will be taken for the events to maximise safety for players and officials.

The ITTF announced last month that China would host the three events, with the men’s and women’s World Cups having originally been due to take place in Düsseldorf, Germany and Bangkok, Thailand, respectively.
