LAFC sets MLS first with Mixhalo audio deal

Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles FC has entered into a partnership with wireless networking technology company Mixhalo to enhance the entertainment offering at Banc of California Stadium.

Mixhalo delivers high-quality audio and other data in real-time to attendees at concerts and sporting events. LAFC becomes the first MLS club to adopt the technology.

Attendees at Mixhalo-powered events are able to use their phone, headphones and a free mobile app to unlock intimate, personalised fan experiences. The Mixhalo experience at Banc of California Stadium will cover LAFC matches and other live events, including concerts and music festivals.

As part of the agreement, LAFC fans will receive access to pristine audio, including play-by-play, Spanish-language radio and exclusive content from goals and the 3252 fan section at Banc of California Stadium.

Mixhalo will supplement the stadium’s PA and ADA systems, providing concertgoers with the same high-quality audio and multiple mixes that artists such as Aerosmith, Metallica and Incubus are able to bring to their fans by using the technology.

LAFC’s chief technology officer Christian Lau, who has been appointed as a new advisor to Mixhalo, said: “While the pandemic has temporarily upended the live sports and entertainment industry, we have not relented in our focus on the fan experience. Mixhalo’s groundbreaking technology will fundamentally change the live experience at games and concerts, and we’re proud to be the first MLS team to introduce the technology.”

John Vars, chief executive of Mixhalo, added: “As a pioneer in venue technology, LAFC knows what it takes to deliver an exceptional fan experience. Mixhalo’s cutting-edge technology is a perfect addition – ultimately transforming the live experience for fans at Banc of California Stadium.

“While the pandemic has dramatically limited opportunities to deploy our technology, we’ve been laser-focused on improving our core product and expanding our geographic footprint across the Los Angeles entertainment scene, and beyond. Once it’s deemed safe again to gather for live events, Mixhalo will be a key element of all live experience.”

Mixhalo has previously partnered with Los Angeles’ Staples Center arena and multiple other venues across the NBA and NHL.
