ASM Global engages Mobilitie to accelerate 5G deployment

ASM Global has signed a new multi-year agreement with US wireless infrastructure firm Mobilitie, through which it will deploy 5G connectivity solutions across its international venue portfolio.

Mobilitie’s 5G capabilities will seek to improve broadcast production and immersive viewing experiences across ASM Global stadiums, arenas and convention centres. The deal, which was brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, will also include integration of new technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality.

It is hoped the partnership will also enhance ASM Global’s operational and data analytics capabilities, as well as its VenueShield security and safety protocols and procedures. VenueShield is being deployed in various stages worldwide as live events begin to return in the COVID-19 era.

Ron Bension, president and chief executive of ASM Global, said: “ASM Global creates memorable live events every night worldwide and we are committed to providing our fans with the ability to share their incredible experiences seamlessly in real-time.

“This extension of our partnership with Mobilitie will help fuel our creativity to envision and implement reimagined in-venue experiences.”

Christos Karmis, president and chief executive of Mobilitie, added: “We are excited to further expand our relationship with ASM Global, the international innovator in the delivery of memorable entertainment experiences.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with their global leadership and venue teams. We currently provide neutral-host wireless networks at several ASM Global properties, including the recently announced Coliseo de Puerto Rico and Puerto Rico Convention Center venues, and we look forward to expanding worldwide.”

ASM Global’s venue network spans five continents, with its portfolio including more than 300 stadiums, arenas, convention and exhibition centres, and performing arts venues. Major venues managed by ASM Global include Minneapolis’ US Bank Stadium (pictured), Perth’s Optus Stadium, Manchester’s AO Arena and Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena.
