Covermaster protects turf for FC Zenit

St Petersburg, Russia – Late last year, close to 7,800m2 of EVERGREEN® frost covers were delivered to the Gazprom Arena in Saint Petersburg, Russia, making it the largest Evergreen project in the country to date.

Home of the professional football club FC Zenit, the stadium’s order for turf blankets was facilitated by COVERMASTER® dealer ENGO, an Eastern European company dealing in supplies and services for professional sports organizations. The Evergreen Radiant turf growth blanket will cover the grass pitch, providing a protective barrier from wind, erosion, frost, and winter kill. Turf covers also create a greenhouse effect, delaying fall dormancy and promoting earlier spring green-ups.

Gazprom Arena is a retractable roof stadium that opened in 2017 for the FIFA Confederations Cup. Its design is an enlarged version of Toyota Stadium in Toyota City, Japan, and can seat close to 68,000 fans. When it isn’t hosting soccer matches, the stadium draws spectators to its outdoor hockey games and concerts.

EVERGREEN® Radiant winter turf blankets and frost covers feature a specialized silver coating that radiates additional heat back into the soil for a 25-percent increase in heat retention. Its UV protection increases the winter turf cover’s durability and a patented lace coating eliminates the need for hems and grommets while allowing plenty of ventilation to the turf below.
