Watford appoints Levy ahead of Premier League return

Levy has agreed a 10-year deal to become the new catering and hospitality partner of newly promoted Premier League football club Watford.

The agreement begins with the 2021-22 season and will see Levy deliver food and beverage services throughout Vicarage Road. The company will also manage the venue’s conference and events operations.

The partnership will enable Watford fans to use the club’s official app to pre-order food and beverages before setting off for the match. Technology options inside the ground will include touchscreen ordering panels to ensure many serving points become easy collection areas.

Levy will also introduce cashless tills and digital screens to help speed up service while reducing physical contact as venues adjust in the COVID-19 era. There is growing optimism that football stadiums will be able to reopen at full capacity next season as infection rates fall and the vaccination roll-out continues.

Levy’s deal with Watford will also see fans benefit from the company’s partnership with street food specialist KERB. Levy partnered with KERB last year in what it claimed marked a first for the industry.

Watford fans will be able to sample a range of dishes from around the world through KERB’s network of street food caterers. The partnership will also enable supporters to sample new locally-sourced beverages, as well as existing local brewers.

Jon Davies, managing director at Levy UK + Ireland, said: “At the heart of our approach, we’ll bring a more modern take on catering and hospitality at the club, in a way that engages the local community and introduces new technology to reinvent the matchday experience.

“We have additionally looked at ways to maximise the venue’s potential outside of match days with a renewed focus placed on improving the club’s conference and events business.”

Paul O’Brien, Watford’s commercial director, added: “We want to offer the very best for our supporters. Appointing Levy to handle our catering and hospitality will play a huge role in us achieving that.

“Some of the food we’ll be offering with Levy is incredible – bringing with it creativity, sustainability, and seasonality to our offering. Bolstering our conference and events operations and Levy’s proposals to engage the local business community were also important factors behind our choice.”
