Vaccination clinics grant Raiders fans inside look at Allegiant Stadium

Allegiant Stadium will today (Thursday) become the latest NFL American football venue to introduce a COVID-19 vaccination clinic.

Southern Nevadans will have the opportunity to get COVID-19 vaccines at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders at clinics scheduled for today through Sunday, plus June 17-20. The clinics will run from 2pm to 7.45pm local time on a daily basis.

The COVID-19 vaccines will be administered in the Modelo Cantina Club overlooking the field, and the venture will offer a new way for Raiders fans to see the team’s home stadium. The Raiders announced in August that Allegiant Stadium would be closed to fans for the entire 2020 NFL season due to COVID-19.

The decision was made to ensure fairness to PSL holders given the challenges that would come with determining who could and could not attend games if the stadium operated at a reduced capacity in its debut season. The Raiders announced in February that fans would be given the chance to experience Allegiant Stadium for the first time through new guided tours of the 65,000-seat venue.

Southern Nevada Health District, which is operating the pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics at Allegiant Stadium, said people attending for jabs will receive a ‘rally towel’ and have the opportunity to take a photo in a designated area.

“We are hopeful that this rare opportunity to go inside Allegiant Stadium will motivate residents to get vaccinated,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft, whose district includes the stadium. “For anyone who has been waiting for the right time this unique experience will be safe, convenient, and free.”

In other news, London Stadium is reportedly set to become the latest of the English capital’s stadia to be used as a mass vaccination centre. An NHS spokesman told the Football.London website that the home of Premier League club West Ham United is working with local services on its use for a potential one-day vaccination clinic.

Confirmation of an agreement between London Stadium’s owner and operator, London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), and the NHS is expected in the coming days.
