Islanders sell out season tickets for move to UBS Arena

The New York Islanders NHL ice hockey team has sold out its season tickets ahead of its first campaign at UBS Arena.

Some 12,000 fans will have general admission passes for the upcoming season at the $1.1bn (£791m/€924m) under-construction venue, which will have a capacity of 19,000 (17,000 for ice hockey) and will host more than 150 sports and live entertainment events annually.

In addition, only six suites remain available out of the arena’s 56, and less than 250 seats remain in the venue’s Dime Club.

Mike Cosentino, the Islanders’ senior vice-president of sales, said: “We are so proud to have the support of these Islanders fans. They’ve responded in such overwhelming fashion. We’re looking forward to welcoming the Islanders faithful to their new home at UBS Arena in the fall.”
