Dolphins claim NFL first with retro arcade lounge

The Miami Dolphins NFL team has claimed a first for the league by partnering with home retro gaming entertainment company Arcade1Up.

As part of the multi-year agreement, Dolphins fans attending games at Hard Rock Stadium will be given the chance to sample the Arcade1Up Game Lounge, a retro arcade experience.

The Dolphins said the lounge, which is designed to enhance the fan experience on game days, is known to be the first of its kind at an NFL stadium. The centre will include 40 retro arcade machines, including PAC-MAN, Street Fighter, NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, Marvel Pinball and Star Wars Pinball.

Jeremy Walls, senior vice-president and chief revenue officer at the Dolphins, said: “We believe in innovation and creating custom experiences for our fans, two areas that are core tenets of Arcade1Up’s strategy.

“Arcade1Up’s move to Miami and this partnership will provide an amazing opportunity for a new generation of our fans throughout South Florida to engage in retro gaming and unique arcade content.”

Scott Bachrach, founder and chief executive of Arcade1Up, added: “Arcade1Up and the Miami Dolphins have a shared passion to offer the best entertainment experience for their fan base, on and around the field at the stadium.

“As a partner of the Miami Dolphins, we are thrilled to be able to bring the arcade gaming experience to every fan and attendee in the Hard Rock Stadium.”

Arcade1Up launched three years ago and recently relocated its headquarters from New York City to Miami. The company has grown from eight to 80-plus employees and has sold more than two million arcade and pinball machines in the US.

Arcade1Up will look to use the partnership with the Dolphins to support its global growth strategy.
