London Stadium has completed work to upgrade its access control systems, to improve safety and security at the venue, with over 200 existing locations replaced by Synectics Security during the installation.
London Stadium – the home of Premier League club West Ham United – said work was completed on time with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities, as the venue welcomed back visitors to a variety of events across the summer and autumn of 2021.
The system will integrate with existing CCTV technology, allowing for automated coverage when any access point is opened. In addition, Synectics Security’s solution also provides visitor and parking management features such as automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) for vehicle access and detection.
Graham Gilmore, chief executive of London Stadium, said: “This important upgrade to the security credentials is part of an ongoing commitment to keeping everyone safe and secure when they visit London Stadium. Operating a multi-event venue requires flexible technologies that not only meet our requirements now, but also in the future. We are pleased to have achieved that with this install.”
Synectics Security was awarded the London Stadium contract following a tender process, with the work further increasing its footprint at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The security upgrades are designed to enhance security standards at all stadiums events – including Premier League football, athletics and Major League Baseball – with additional safety coverage for any visitors from the wider Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park complex.
Iain Stringer, managing director of Synectics Security, said: “We are delighted that London Stadium have chosen our integrated access control solution, alongside our design, programme management and installation capabilities, to upgrade security at such a high-profile sporting venue.
“Our ability to provide a tailored access control solution, integrating seamlessly with the Stadium’s state-of-the-art Synergy command and control platform provides the perfect foundation to ensure the Stadium can deliver on their commitment to keep all visitors safe and secure.”
