ASM’s Arena Oberhausen becomes Rudolf Weber-Arena

ASM Global’s Arena Oberhausen in Germany is to be renamed as Rudolf Weber-Arena after the expiry of a two-decade naming rights deal with Konig Pilsener.

The Rudolf Weber group is one of Germany’s leading providers of building cleaning services and was recently awarded the contract to clean the Oberhausen Arena. It will assume naming rights from January 1, 2022.

In a statement, the two parties said the partnership is especially important in the modern world where hygiene and cleanliness are paramount. They said the partnership will support the efforts and actions already put in place through ASM Global’s VenueShield program to enable visitors to return to the 12,000-capacity venue with confidence.

“We are very pleased that the Arena Oberhausen will bear our name from 2022,” said Rudolf Weber executive Andreas Weber.

“As a supraregional company that is firmly rooted in the Ruhr area, it is both an honour and an obligation for us to be able to support the Arena Oberhausen, which is known far beyond the borders of the region, as the eponymous partner in the future.”

The previous naming partner, Konig Pilsener, will continue to be a permanent partner of the Arena Oberhausen. The venue, which opened in 1996, has hosted artists such as REM, Kylie Minogue and Pink over the years.

“We are proud to have found another strong partner with whom we will go into the future together and we warmly welcome Rudolf Weber Building Cleaning,” said Mirco Markfort, Arena Oberhausen’s manager. “The new partnership with the Rudolf Weber company, where numerous employees come from the region, shows once again the close ties to the Ruhr area that we have through our location.”
