Somerset County Cricket Club has announced independent hospitality food service provider, BaxterStorey, as its official hospitality and catering partner in a five-year agreement.
In August, Somerset began researching various catering operation models to ensure the club’s catering offering provided quality products and optimum service at the right price; to make sure it was flexible and scalable, provided a structure for growth and generated sustainable profit.
Somerset chief executive Gordon Hollins said: “We are thrilled to announce this new partnership. Catering is all about people and we are very impressed by BaxterStorey’s leadership and their desire to work in true partnership.
“We believe this will be the beginning of an outstanding working relationship as we aim to consistently provide memorable experiences for our members and stakeholders and grow in the venue of choice in the South West, which will allow for substantial investment in cricket.”
Somerset’s commercial director Caroline Herbert said: “Working in partnership, we will be looking to bring new ideas to life and provide a more diverse match day offering than ever before. It’s not just about our match days. This partnership will see us providing catering excellence across all of our events.
“Over the coming months, we will be seeking feedback from our Members and stakeholders to establish what our most valued customers want to see on the menu at the Cooper Associates County Ground.”
BaxterStorey will aim to use fresh, locally sourced and seasonal produce. The firm also has dedicated nutritionists that will work alongside Somerset’s strength and conditioning team to provide bespoke, nourishing and healthy food for players and staff.
Mack Allan, managing director of BaxterStorey, added: “We’re excited to bring our innovation and creativity to Somerset County Cricket Club. We will be working with local suppliers and chef consultants to celebrate the best in South West produce.
“Our experience working with sporting venues gives us a real understanding about what it takes to cater for a successful club like Somerset. Our chefs understand the important role that food plays in peak athletic performance, and we will bring nutritious, delicious dishes to both players, members and fans.”
