Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road ‘set for redevelopment’

English Championship football club Blackpool is reportedly set to see its Bloomfield Road stadium redeveloped.

The Blackpool Gazette newspaper, citing documents from Blackpool Council, said Bloomfield Road’s East Stand (pictured) will be replaced by a new 4,600-seat facility.

The plans are contained within the business case for Revoe Sports Village, a joint venture between the club, Council and Blackpool FC Community Trust which is part of the £39m (€46.4m/$51.2m) Town Deal regeneration project.

The existing East Stand would be demolished in August 2024, with the new stand, including its own concourse, put in place by September 2025. The North Stand is also proposed to receive a new club shop, club bar and ticket office, with a public realm to be completed by July 2025.

Planning permission is hoped to be secured by October this year. Blackpool has played at Bloomfield Road since 1901, with the stadium having a current capacity of around 16,500.
