Audi Field opens MLS’s first in-stadium sportsbook with FanDuel

Audi Field has opened Major League Soccer’s first in-stadium sportsbook after FanDuel’s betting lounge began operating at the home of DC United.

Located just inside Gate A, the FanDuel Sportsbook stretches over 2,700 square feet and features three wagering stations, 47 HD televisions, two large video walls, 18 self-service kiosks and an uninterrupted view to the field.

DC United announced a multi-year partnership with FanDuel in 2020 making the Flutter Entertainment-owned brand the official sports betting sponsor of the club. The location was expected to open in 2021 but it first needed to be granted a Class A licence by DC Lottery.

The opening means that bettors in the District of Columbia will be able to wager at three different in-stadium sportsbooks. Caesars was the first to open a sportsbook (as William Hill at the time) in a professional venue at Capital One Arena in August 2020. Fans can also wager at the BetMGM sportsbook, which opened at Nationals Park earlier this year.

The facility is FanDuel‘s second in a professional sports arena — the company opened a book at Phoenix’s Footprint Center last September.

FanDuel, which is a division of Flutter Entertainment – formerly Paddy Power Betfair – opened its first retail location for sports betting at New Jersey’s Meadowlands Racetrack, close to the NFL’s New York Jets and Giants’ MetLife Stadium, in 2018. That launch came soon after the end of the US-wide prohibition on betting, with many states legalising wagering in the two years since and sports teams and leagues partnering with sportsbook operators.
