The Sodexo Live! division of catering and facilities management provider Sodexo has unveiled its £1m (€1.2m/$1.22m) makeover of DW Stadium, home of Championship football club Wigan Athletic and Super League team Wigan Warriors.
The upgrades focus on the hospitality, conference and events spaces at the stadium, which Sodexo Live! has a 11-year partnership with.
A key element of the upgrades is a new sports bar renamed in honour of Wigan Athletic’s former owner, Dave Whelan. Whelan’s Bar is situated where Rigaletto’s Italian Restaurant was located in the West Stand.
The DW Sports fitness lounge has also been transformed into an exclusive venue fitted with new audiovisual features.
Additionally, DW Stadium’s Chairman’s Lounge has been renovated and now offers a premium experience for up to 100 people on match days and non-match days. Other features include new premium menus and a transformed Phoenix Lounge.

Wigan Athletic chief executive Malachy Brannigan added: “Working with our partners at Sodexo Live!, there has been significant investment into the facilities at the DW Stadium as we continually look to improve the match day and non-match day experience.
“We think Whelan’s Sports Bar will be a really popular offering for supporters so we encourage our fans to come down, have a look at the bar and try the food and drink in the next few weeks and at our upcoming fixtures.”
