RB Leipzig opens outdoor fitness training area at Red Bull Arena

German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig is turning part of its stadium campus into a free outdoor training venue with 16 different sports equipment devices available.

The new RBL Free Fit Area, due to open in September, is open to all who visit the 47,000-capacity Red Bull Arena and is designed to meet the needs of beginner, advanced and professional trainers.

The training area was designed in cooperation with the club’s professional athletic trainers Daniel Behlau and Ruwen Faller and young people from Leipzig with different sporting backgrounds across calisthenics, crossfit and sports science as part of a workshop.

There will be a QR code on the individual devices that leads users directly to training videos that explain how to correctly perform the exercises on the sports equipment. There will be three exercise levels (easy, medium, difficult) per device, in which the RBL athletic trainers will show users how they can train.

A club spokesperson said: “The videos are updated at regular intervals and new exercises are integrated. In addition, the Free Fit Area will also be used for events and workshops such as training sessions or competitions in the future.”
