Betting firm backs new stadium complex for Ghana Football Association

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has teamed up with betting and gaming company, betPawa, to unveil plans for a new stadium complex.

The complex, for which work will commence this month, will be located at the GFA’s technical centre in the town of Prampram.

The venture is part of betPawa’s commitments under a three-season deal it signed with the GFA last month to become the headline sponsor of the Ghana Premier League.

The betPawa Park project will include a FIFA Star Grade 1 pitch, with a 3,000-capacity stand, plus changing rooms, a match officials room and a media centre.

BetPawa is committing GH¢2.99m (£259,000/€299,000/$299,000) yearly to the legacy project, which should be completed within four to six months.

“This is a novelty in sports sponsorship in this country and I call on other corporate companies to emulate this shining example,” Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, president of the Ghana Football Association, said, according to local news outlet Pulse Sports.
