Audiovisual systems manufacturer Daktronics has manufactured and fitted new end-wall visual displays and more than 3,000 linear feet of ribbon displays at Crypto.com Arena in time for the new NBA and NHL seasons.
Daktronics fitted the new displays over the summer months as part of the first phase of renovations at the arena, which serves as the home of the NBA’s LA Lakers and Clippers, the NHL’s Kings, and the WNBA’s Sparks.
The displays are designed to enhance the fan experience with statistics, promotions and sponsorships during games.
The end-wall video displays feature 5.9-millimetre pixel spacing and measure approximately 21 feet high by 65.5 feet wide. The displays are capable of variable content zoning, which allows them to show one large image or be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, statistics, graphics, animations and sponsorship messages.
Crypto.com Arena, which was formerly known as Staples Center, has been fitted with three new ribbon displays, approximately three times the size of the previous ribbon displays. Each ribbon display has been installed along different levels of the seating fascia to bring additional game information and graphics.
Each ribbon features 5.9-millimetre pixel spacing and measures around 2.5 feet high, with the lower-level ribbon measuring 894 feet wide. The mid-level ribbon measures 1,076 feet wide and the upper-level ribbon measures 1,093 feet wide.
Lee Zeidman, president of Crypto.com Arena, said: “We are incredibly excited to be working with Daktronics and upgrading our LED displays throughout the arena and truly elevating the fans’ experience with three levels of LED ribbon boards and two large end-wall video displays.”
Jay Parker, Daktronics’ vice-president of live events, added: “We’re continually building and delivering LED solutions for the largest event venues in the world, and this project coming together at Crypto.com Arena highlights the work we strive for on a daily basis.
“We’re excited to partner with the venue and their project teams to make their live event experience something special for fans and audiences in Los Angeles.”
