Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena has partnered with non-profit organisation KultureCity to make all programmes and events at the venue sensory-inclusive.
The partnership will look to provide a more accommodating and positive experience for guests and fans with sensory sensitivities at the arena, which serves as the home of the NBA’s Lakers and Clippers, the NHL’s Kings and the WNBA’s Sparks.
Crypto.com Arena, formerly Staples Center, has been awarded KultureCity’s sensory inclusive certification, which will see the arena’s staff undergo annual training to recognise guests and fans with sensory needs and how to properly manage a sensory overload situation.
Sensory bags equipped with noise-cancelling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards and weighted lap pads will be made available to all guests who may feel overwhelmed by the loud environment during games and other events at the arena.
Prior to attending an event at Crypto.com Arena, families can also download the free KultureCity app to view the sensory features available. The app also features the Social Story, which will provide a preview of what to expect while at the arena.
Danielle Snyder, senior vice-president of arena service at Crypto.com Arena, said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome KultureCity to Crypto.com Arena and feel strongly that our partnership will benefit all of our loyal fans and guests who look to us for memorable life moments. We are confident our collaboration shows our continued dedication to ensure all guests and fans have a safe and enjoyable experience every time they attend an event.”
Uma Srivastava, executive director at KultureCity, added: “Our communities are what shape our lives and to know that Crypto.com Arena is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that everyone, no matter their ability, is included in their community is amazing. We’re honoured to partner with Crypto.com Arena to provide a truly inclusive experience for all fans and guests.”
KultureCity has partnered with a host of venues and teams across the US. It recently worked with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks to open an updated sensory room at Lumen Field.
Earlier this month, Crypto.com Arena announced the completion of its first phase of renovations in time for the new NHL and NBA seasons. Among the new and repurposed arena locations now accessible to guests are an expanded and reimagined Chairman’s Club that will provide select season ticket members and VIP guests with new benefits and experiences at Crypto.com Arena’s most private and sought-after location before, during, and after events.
