People on the move: ASM Global, AC Milan and more

ASM Global has appointed Gary Jacobus as president of business development for the US and Latin America.

Jacobus (pictured left) most recently served as senior vice-president of business development and sales for cashierless store operator and retail solutions provider Zippin. In his new role, he will oversee ASM Global’s plans to grow its sales efforts and strategies for securing new accounts.

Jacobus previously worked at the NFL, NBA and the IMG agency.  At ASM Global, he will also provide support and assistance to ASM Global’s European and APAC business development teams.

ASM Global has also announced the appointment of Julie Driscoll as the new chief executive of Olympia London.

Driscoll (pictured centre) joins Olympia London with previous experience in running the UK’s largest trade events and cross-industry collaboration via the Association of Exhibition Organisers and Events Industry Alliance.

She will begin her new role on December 5. Olympia London’s managing director Nigel Nathan will remain in a consultancy role for three months to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

ASM Global was appointed to manage Olympia London in March. The venue site is being redeveloped as a wide-ranging district spanning art, culture, education, entertainment, exhibitions, music, offices, and food and drink space.

Italian Serie A football club AC Milan has announced that Giorgio Furlani will succeed Ivan Gazidis as its chief executive.

Furlani (pictured right) has served as a member of the board of directors since 2018 and played a key role in the club’s success under the ownership of Elliott Advisors, from which he will step down to take up the chief executive role at AC Milan.

Gazidis, who joined AC Milan from Premier League team Arsenal in December 2018, will end his tenure at the club on December 5.

Alex Simmonds has joined TEG Europe as head of UK touring and special projects as the live entertainment and ticketing company continues to grow its business in the country.

Simmonds joins TEG after eight years at SJM, where he booked the C2C Country Music Festival and worked with brands such as Disney, Studio Ghibli, BBC, Sony and Amazon on live shows.

In his new role, Simmonds will lead the promoting team at TEG and support its growth in the UK across all formats of entertainment.

Music and live entertainment company AEG Presents has appointed Georgie Donnelly as its first head of comedy.

The appointment will bring the Just For Laughs comedy festival to The O2 in London from March 2-5. Donnelly joins AEG Presents from Moment House, where she served as head of comedy and podcasts.

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has appointed Sarah Lewis as deputy secretary general.

Lewis, who previously served as secretary general of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), will join FISU on January 1.
