Sports and entertainment hospitality caterer Levy UK + Ireland has entered into a partnership with Championship football club Swansea City.

Levy previously worked with the club when the Swansea.com Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium) opened in 2005. Swansea has now returned to Levy after a five-year hiatus.

As part of the new long-term deal, Levy will provide matchday experiences as well as conference and events catering. Levy will work closely with Compass Cymru managing director Jane Byrd, who oversees all of the company’s partnerships in Wales.

Levy also holds partnerships with two other major venues in Wales: Cardiff City Stadium and Principality Stadium.

Levy UK + Ireland is a division of Compass Group UK & Ireland. Levy said that working with Compass Cymru will bring “huge benefits” when it comes to partnering with trusted suppliers.

The company has expressed a commitment to regional sourcing in Wales and works with consortiums to gain access to a network of local suppliers. Levy also cited its net-zero targets as a key reason why Swansea chose to partner with the company, with plant-based menus, reducing single-use plastics and food waste all key priorities for the club.

Another priority will be improving the speed of service at Swansea.com Stadium during the summer ahead of next season. Self-order units will be fitted at the stadium to minimise queue times.

Byrd said: “It’s brilliant to have Swansea City back in our portfolio, cementing our stadia business in Wales. We love partnering with like-minded businesses and we know how important it was for Swansea City to work with a partner who has serious Net Zero ambitions.

“Bringing together our green credentials and commitment to providing quality Welsh produce is an exciting prospect and we couldn’t be happier to be working together again. Through our catering partnership with Swansea University, we have some established relationships which will work well with the Swansea City fan base.”

Swansea chief executive Julian Winter added: “We’re delighted to be back in the Levy UK+I fold and pleased to be benefitting from the regional expertise that comes with Compass Cymru; they are not only specialists in stadia catering, but catering in Wales.

“Finding a partner committed to working towards a greener future is very important to us at Swansea City. We continue to make progress in our desire to operate in a more environmentally friendly manner, whilst striving to deliver the best possible produce and service for our supporters. We look forward to reaching our goals on all these fronts through this long-term partnership with market-leaders Levy UK + Ireland.”
