Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field has become the first Dallas-area sports venue to open stores featuring Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One.
The two Express Grill locations convenience-oriented foodservice outlets are designed to eliminate checkout lines and reduce friction by giving guests the option to pay with their palm.
The outlets, which are operated by foodservice and retail partner Delaware North, are located near sections 108 and 124. Offerings include cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas and beers.
“We are excited to be collaborating with Amazon and Delaware North to add this new shopping experience to Globe Life Field,” said Rob Matwick, Texas Rangers executive vice-president, business operations. “The Express Grill locations will offer added convenience and quicker transactions – allowing fans to spend more time watching a Rangers game or event and less time standing in line.”
Guests visiting the Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One-enabled stores at Globe Life Field can insert their credit card or hover their palm at the entry gates to shop. Anything a guest takes off a shelf is automatically added to their virtual cart, and anything they put back on the shelf comes out of their virtual cart. When guests have completed their shopping experience, they will be able to leave the store and the credit card they inserted or linked to their Amazon One ID will be charged for the items they took.
“The team at Globe Life Field recognises that fans want a fast and frictionless way to get hot food, snacks and beverages – without having to wait in line and miss any of the action,” said Dilip Kumar, vice-president at AWS Applications. “We’re thrilled to work with Delaware North to bring our checkout-free technology and palm identity and payment service, Amazon One, to this state-of-the-art stadium to improve the fan experience.”
