St George’s Park Stadium, one of South Africa’s international cricket grounds, has secured a three-year naming rights deal with online gambling company Dafabet.
Cricket Eastern Cape’s agreement also includes the local Warriors team which plays at the Port Elizabeth venue, which will now be known as Dafabet St George’s Park Cricket Stadium.
The deal is viewed as a financial breakthrough for the stadium, which has hosted international cricket since 1889. The venue has been without a naming sponsor for a number of years.
Warriors chief executive, Mark Williams, said: “Dafabet, an international brand with a footprint across the globe, has recognised that St George’s Park Cricket Stadium continues to be one of the premier and favourite grounds for cricket lovers and players alike.”
In 2021, Dafabet served as the Warriors’ naming sponsor for its domestic T20 Challenge campaign. Williams added: “It was through that partnership that Dafabet saw the value of being associated with the Warriors and, by extension, the St George’s Park Cricket Stadium.
“The three-year contract will provide a boost for our flagship team and will support various initiatives, both on a team and stadium level.”
