CTS Eventim has appointed the Eteria consortium as the general contractor responsible for completing the second phase of construction at the new Arena for Milan in the Santa Giulia area.

The venue, which was designed by architect David Chipperfield in collaboration with Arup, will be finished on schedule to host competitions during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, CTS Eventim added.

Eteria’s consortium comprises two Italian companies – Itinera (ASTM Group) and Vianini Lavori (Caltagirone Group) – which have spearheaded numerous large-scale projects.

CTS Eventim, an international ticketing and live entertainment provider, is the developer and future operator of the facility. The company worked in collaboration with engineering company Trevi to complete the first construction phase on the arena’s foundations in three months.

The second building phase will commence immediately, CTS Eventim added.

“We are proud to be able to collaborate with highly qualified partners with whom we share the goal of creating a new iconic landmark for Milan and an innovative, multipurpose space that will become a focal point for sports and live entertainment not only for Milan but for all of Italy,” CTS Eventim chief executive Klaus-Peter Schulenberg said.

The arena will have a capacity of 16,000 and feature more than 10,000 square metres of space for summer festivals and outdoor events. The venue will host ice hockey and para ice hockey during the Games in 2026.
