Audiovisual systems manufacturer Daktronics has renewed its partnership with the Detroit Tigers to deliver the second largest main video display in Major League Baseball.
The display will be installed at Comerica Park ahead of the 2024 MLB season. Five additional displays will also be fitted along the fascia, dugout and line score locations.
The six-display LED system will aim to improve the fan experience at Comerica Park and will span 16,900 square feet of digital canvas.
The main display will replace the current outfield display at Comerica Park and will feature more than 15,000 square feet of digital canvas featuring 14.1 million pixels. The display itself will measure around 67 feet high by 185 feet wide, with a lower component measuring nearly 35 feet by 96 feet high to create a single outfield display.
The display will feature 10-millimetre pixel spacing, providing Tigers fans with clear imagery at wide-angle visibility for mass appeal inside the stadium. Two ribbon displays will be replaced at the ballpark, one along the first baseline and the other along the third baseline.
Long narrow displays will also be installed along the front edge of each dugout roof. In the outfield below, the main display will measure almost five feet high by 96 feet wide.
Daktronics president and chief executive Reece Kurtenbach said: “Our company takes great pride in providing professional sports customers with the latest technology and overall digital real estate to execute their complex and engaging game-day experiences.
“This project for the Detroit Tigers will elevate the atmosphere at Comerica Park for their fans and we’re thrilled to once again partner with their team on a sizable stadium improvement project featuring LED technology.”
