Spanish football team Villarreal CF is due to open its official museum, located in the Estadio de la Cerámica, to the public at the end of next month.

The museum, named Villarreal Immersion, is located at the southern end of the team’s 23,008-seater stadium.

“Villarreal Immersion is an exciting interactive and audiovisual experience in which fans will be able to immerse themselves in the history, identity and values of Villarreal CF through a journey through different rooms themed under its most iconic image, that of the Yellow Submarine,” read a club statement.

“Immersion Villarreal is a project with a long history, in which the club has dedicated years of work and dedication with the help of one of the best companies in the world in the sector, Mediapro Exhibitions, the division of the Mediapro Group specialised in the creation and management of museum projects, and with experience in the conceptualisation, design and production of exhibition spaces for other large sports clubs.”

The creation of the museum is part of “the great transformation” of Estadio de la Cerámica which saw a renovation take place last year. Plans are also in place to turn it into a multi-purpose facility featuring leisure and restaurant spaces.

It is also building on the establishment of Villarreal’s historical archive which was created with the purpose of discovering more about the history of the club in collaboration with the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón, the Villarreal City Council and the fan group Amics del Club.

“On the occasion of the centenary [in 2023], Villarreal CF released two works of great historical value, the documentary 100 years of film and the book La Il·lusió de Tot un Poble, which review the most notable moments in the history of the team and give voice to the characters who starred in it in first person,” continued the statement.

“Now, the inauguration of Villarreal Immersion represents an important step in the club’s journey towards its origins and the dissemination of its historical trajectory.”
