Sphere Entertainment has announced the acquisition of Holoplot, which specialises in 3D audio technology.
Sphere Entertainment first invested in the Berlin-based company in 2018 and has now acquired all of the remaining shares it did not previously own.
The two companies launched Sphere Immersive Sound, powered by Holoplot, which forms a key part of the experience at the Sphere arena in Las Vegas. Following the acquisition, Holoplot will remain based in Berlin and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sphere Entertainment.
Sporting CP has claimed a first for a Portuguese football club after announcing plans to introduce NFC access technology at the Estádio Jose Alvalade.
The initiative, which will debut during Saturday’s match against GD Chaves, will enable fans to pass through the turnstiles by using any mobile device that supports NFC technology and has the Gamebox added to the wallet.
Activation of the technology will be automatic. Saturday’s match will serve as a pilot for the technology, which will be available at all entrance points.
League of Ireland Premier Division football club Shamrock Rovers has agreed a deal with Sharp Group, a provider of fire and security solutions, to fit an LED perimeter signage system at Tallaght Stadium.
According to Rovers, it marks the largest ever commercial sponsorship deal delivered by a League of Ireland club. The LED signage system will deliver dynamic content, enhance fan engagement, and provide new branding opportunities for sponsors.
The deal mandates a commitment from the club to allocate a significant portion of the revenue generated by the system to the Shamrock Rovers Academy to fund professional contracts.
Major League Soccer team Los Angeles FC has agreed a deal with Zelle, a person-to-person payment provider.
Zelle will serve as a Golden Boot Club corporate partner and the official peer-to-peer payment provider of LAFC. With Zelle, LAFC fans will be able to split the cost of their tickets, food and other experiences at BMO Stadium.
Premiership rugby union team Saracens has appointed strategy and technology consultancy PTI to design and develop a new data and digital technology ecosystem for the club.
The partnership is designed to drive the club’s operational efficiencies, create new revenue-generating opportunities and improve customer experiences. PTI will initially analyse and audit Saracens’ entire data technology estate, identifying the needs of key business functions, before creating a new roadmap for a technology ecosystem.
Customer engagement platform Komo Tech has partnered with the Fanatics Events division of global sports merchandising company Fanatics.
As part of the deal, Komo Tech will work with Fanatics Events to “unlock new levels of fan engagement” through interactive and immersive experiences. The deal begins with Fanatics Fest in New York City from August 16-18.
Fanatics Events launched in July last year with the IMG agency as a minority partner.
T-Mobile has announced plans to deploy 5G solutions at this year’s PGA Championship, which gets underway today (Thursday) at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
The PGA of America will leverage golf’s first 5G private network in the US to enable operational efficiencies. 5G will also be implemented into the live broadcast of the tournament.
