United Soccer League (USL) club Detroit City FC, which last week announced that it had acquired land for a new stadium, has partnered with sports marketing and revenue consultancy firm Sports Revenue Advisors (SRA) to maximise the commercial impact of the project.
DCFC, which currently plays in the USL Championship, hopes to open a new soccer-specific stadium by the 2027 season. The club said it bought the site of the former Southwest Detroit Hospital for the purpose of building a new permanent home for the sport in the city.
Key aspects of the partnership with SRA will include the acquisition of marketing partnerships, with a focus on securing prime assets such as stadium naming rights and jersey sponsorships.
By partnering with SRA, the club is hoping to secure “high-impact” partnerships around the stadium project to resonate with fans and sponsors. The link-up is designed to drive substantial value for all stakeholders and enhance DCFC’s brand presence and financial strength.
Clark Beacom, principal at SRA, said: “We are incredibly excited to work with Detroit City FC during this monumental period. The new stadium in Corktown represents a significant opportunity for the club and the community. Our goal is to leverage our expertise to secure partnerships that will not only elevate the club’s profile but also contribute to the local economy and fan experience in the area we call home.”
DCFC chief executive and co-owner Sean Mann added: “For this historic project for the club and community, we’re excited to pair with Sports Revenue Advisors due to their vast experience in national sports, and in particular soccer partnerships, coupled with their strong local ties.”
SRA partner Chris Quinn said the deal will seek to deliver the most sustainable, technologically advanced and fan-friendly football stadium in North America.
DCFC’s vision for the stadium includes modern facilities that can host a range of events. Further announcements regarding specific partnerships and sponsorships will be made as plans for the stadium progress.
DCFC games are currently played at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, which the club leases and has a seating capacity of under 7,000. Founded in 2012, along with the men’s USL Championship team, DCFC also fields a women’s team that plays in the amateur USL W League.
