T-Mobile is implementing a series of technological innovations powered by its 5G network for the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Week in Arlington, Texas beginning on July 16.

For the first time at All-Star Week, fans will be able to enter Globe Life Field with facial authentication technology.

Improvements to the event’s accessibility have also been made with the use of OneCourt which captures and transfers player and ball tracking data before translating it into a haptic language.

This allows visually impaired fans to feel vibrations that mirror the game as it happens.

For the second year in a row, the MLB will test the automated ball-strike challenge system using 5G. In addition, spectators will be able to tune into a T-Mobile 5G batting practice show to see new angles of players warming up.

Spanish football club Atlético Madrid has signed Kraken as its official crypto and Web3 partner, beginning with the 2024-25 season.

The new sponsor will appear on the sleeve of the men’s and women’s home jerseys while both parties are set to engage in “digital innovation projects” and community programmes.

Gloucester Rugby has invested in new technology infrastructure with the help of partner Emerge Digital.

The Cheltenham-based firm has installed a new, high-tech Cisco Meraki network that will give the club the opportunity to expand its Internet Protocol (IP) requirements as well as updated security.

The network is aimed at supporting Gloucester’s move towards a data-led approach to better serve supporters at Kingsholm Stadium.

Within the next five years, the club is looking to explore technology such as IP televisions installed in all hospitality boxes and lounges, Internet of Things (IoT) implementation, and internal data analytics systems.
