Barrow AFC has renewed its stadium naming-rights deal with law firm SO Legal, while fellow League Two clubs Gillingham and Cheltenham Town have agreed sponsorship deals with MEMS Power Generation and EVCP Solutions, respectively.
Barrow’s new deal with SO Legal will see the club’s Holker Street ground retain its SO Legal Stadium name for another two seasons. SO Legal has sponsored the stadium since 2022.
Last year, over 1,000 new seats were installed at SO Legal Stadium, making it fully compliant with the English Football League (EFL)’s League One and Two regulations, which state that clubs must have 2,000 covered seats by their third season.
The stadium only had 1,130 seats previously, and the 2023-24 season marked Barrow’s third consecutive campaign in League Two following promotion in 2020. Barrow finished eighth last season, narrowly missing out on a play-off place.
Hamed Ovaisi, chairman of SO Legal, which opened an office in nearby Ulverston in 2022, said: “It’s been a rollercoaster journey so far, and we are immensely proud of our association with Barrow AFC. The club is well-positioned for the future, and we look forward to enjoying that journey. We’re thrilled by how the club has helped us build a relationship with the people of Barrow, and we can’t wait to see what this new season brings.”
In other news, Cheltenham has agreed a three-year deal for EVCP Solutions to take on naming rights to its home stadium, Whaddon Road. As part of the deal, the ground will be known as the EV Charger Points Stadium.
EVCP Solutions replaces Completely-Suzuki as the stadium’s naming-rights partner. Completely-Suzuki sponsored Whaddon Road for the past two seasons after replacing Jonny-Rocks, a luxury VIP chauffeur and executive car service company.
Alan Lewis, EV Charger Points Ltd founder and a Cheltenham fan, said: “It is such a proud moment for us to be able to sponsor the stadium and support the Club in this way. I am excited to see what the next three years bring for everyone at Cheltenham Town – players, staff and supporters.
“EV Charger Points Ltd has been set up to support the switch to electric vehicles. Under the banner of ‘EVCP Solutions’ we will be installing EV charger points locally and across the UK, playing our part to help make sure that EV charging infrastructure meets driver demand.”
Meanwhile, Gillingham has announced the return of MEMS Power Generation as the sponsor of Priestfield Stadium as part of a long-term deal.
MEMS previously sponsored the stadium for 12 years until 2023. The stadium will once again be known as MEMS Priestfield Stadium with immediate effect, with MEMS to benefit from prominent brand exposure as part of the deal.
Colin Jarvis, MEMS chairman and a lifelong Gillingham fan, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Gillingham Football Club once again and look forward to being part of the club’s continued rise. Our history with Gillingham is filled with memorable moments, and we are eager to create new ones together.”
The League Two season begins on August 9.
