Financial services group FNB has acquired naming rights to a new cricket stadium being built in Namibia.

FNB is a long-term partner of Cricket Namibia. As part of the new deal, it will lend its name to the under-construction stadium and also become an associate partner of the Eagles, Namibia’s national cricket team.

Namibia is building a new cricket stadium in the capital city of Windhoek as it prepares to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup alongside South Africa and Zimbabwe. It will mark the first time Namibia has hosted World Cup games.

FNB’s three-year deal will run until just before the Cricket World Cup. Cricket Namibia said the deal represents a “major milestone” for the governing body.

Cricket Namibia broke ground on the new stadium in March. The stadium will be located near the Hage Geingob Stadium, which hosts rugby matches, and will include a high-performance centre, restaurant and corporate suites.

Cricket Namibia chief executive Johan Muller said: “We are thankful and privileged to get FNB’s full support. They have been a consistent partner through our development programme, and it is amazing to see their massive involvement now with the stadium and men’s cricket.

“We are proud to be associated with a brand like FNB. Thank you for supporting us in this journey as we create milestones together.”
