The Asian Cricket Council has announced that India will host the men’s T20 Asia Cup in 2025, while Bangladesh will stage the one-day international format of the competition in 2027.
The ACC confirmed the news in its invitation for expressions of interest for sponsorship rights for the period covering 2024 to 2027.
The 2025 Asia Cup in India will serve as a precursor to the 2026 T20 World Cup, which the country will co-host alongside Sri Lanka. India and Bangladesh will also host the 2031 Cricket World Cup, which is contested in the ODI format.
The most recent edition of the Asia Cup took place last year in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with matches played as one-day internationals. Prior to that, the United Arab Emirates staged the T20 Asia Cup in 2022.
India has won three of the last four Asia Cups, including the 2023 tournament.
Pakistan hosted that event alongside Sri Lanka as a hybrid model was deemed necessary after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated its national team would not travel to Pakistan amid the long-running tensions between the two countries.
