Transportation company FedEx has donated KRW40m (£22,900/€27,100/$29,300) to K League Assist to help improve the safety of football stadiums in South Korea.

K League Assist is the social contribution arm of the K League, which organises the top two divisions of club football in South Korea.

FedEx has joined forces with K League Assist to launch a safety campaign at Incheon Football Stadium, home of Incheon United, which aims to prevent accidents and injuries caused by large crowds at the stadium.

The campaign will include the installation of 12 new emergency evaluation signs across the walls and corridors of the stadium. The signs will allow fans to quickly find evacuation routes in the event of emergencies, while etiquette guide posters and standees will be placed throughout the stadium.

FedEx also sponsors four K League clubs: Incheon United, FC Seoul, Ulsan HD FC and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Through this sponsorship, FedEx will organise various events for customers and fans across the country.

During designated home games for the four clubs, fans will be able to sample the FedEx Zone, which will feature activities such as shooting challenges and photo sessions with players.

Wonbin Park, managing director of FedEx Korea, said: “We are honoured to join forces with K League Assist in promoting safety to football enthusiasts across the country. This initiative aligns with our ‘Safety Above All’ principle, which is paramount in every aspect of our operations. We look forward to expanding this campaign to more stadiums, so that spectators may enjoy the matches in a safe environment.”

Young-jin Kwak, director of K League Assist, added: “We extend our sincere thanks to FedEx for their generous donation. With the support of FedEx, we are committed to creating a safer environment for fans to enjoy K League matches.”
