Cosm is to open its second ‘shared reality’ arena at the end of this month with a triple-header of college football launching its Dallas venue.

Opening on August 31, the 65,000 square foot experiential venue in the Texas city features an 87-foot diameter 12K+ LED dome. Cosm Dallas will be used to stage screenings of major sports fixtures and other cultural events.

Cosm’s ‘shared reality’ experience aims to merge state-of-the-art visuals with the energy of the crowd and an elevated food and beverage service. Its inaugural 2,000-capacity Cosm Los Angeles opened at Hollywood Park in July 2004.

Tickets are now on sale for the opening event, which features screenings of Clemson v Georgia, Texas A&M v Notre Dame and USC v LSU. Forthcoming events include US Open tennis, Premier League football matches and additional college football games throughout the month of September. In addition to live sports, ticketed events Cosm Dallas also include Cirque du Soleil’s production ‘O’ and immersive art experiences from members of the Cosm Studios Creator Programme.

Cosm’s slate of live sports offerings has been expanded through official partnerships with ESPN, the NBA, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, FOX Sports, UFC, and more.

Cosm’s $250m cash boost

Cosm last week announced it had raised over $250m (£195m/€232m) in funding to accelerate the development of its venues globally.

The company’s latest round of funding includes existing investor Steve Winn and Mirasol Capital, and also welcomes new investors such as Avenue Sports Fund.

In July 2024, Cosm announced plans for a third venue at Atlanta’s Centennial Yards.

Cosm was founded in 2020 with the acquisition of technology company Evans & Sutherland, along with its subsidiary Spitz Inc and the subsequent follow-on acquisitions of LiveLikeVR (now Cosm Immersive) and C360.
