The first upgrades at M&T Bank Stadium have been unveiled including bar areas and premium hospitality suites.

A $430m (£338m/€394m) renovation project began earlier this year and the initial progress was shown prior to the stadium’s hosting of a football match between FC Barcelona and AC Milan tonight (Tuesday).

“Today’s an exciting day to be able to show off some of the finished 2024 projects,” said Brad Downs, senior vice-president of marketing for NFL team Baltimore Ravens which plays at the stadium.

“That’s really what it’s all about, is having a wide range of opportunity through these three years of renovations that each phase there’s a new opportunity for fans.”

Described as one of the biggest additions for this season is the Miller Lite Gatehouse and Roof Deck Bar.

Both areas are accessible to all fans while the space is also available to be used for other events such as watch parties for games.

The Ravens also showcased The Blackwing, a luxury area that includes 10 premium suites with club access.

The Blackwing replaces the previous press box location which has been relocated to the suite level.

The club level was also renovated, with 136 new field level seats added along the northwest and southwest corners of the field.

“We wanted to honour the stadium, honour Baltimore in the renovations,” Ravens president Sashi Brown said.

“Not try to transform and make it something different but really take what has been a great gameday and fan experience and enhance that. And we think we’ve really done that.”

This is the first stage of the three-phase renovation project that is due to be finished in 2026.

The renovations are being financed using $430m of $600m of state funds allocated for such works.

In addition to substantial developments on the exterior plaza areas, every level of the venue will undergo renovations with the goal of completely transforming the stadium experience for fans.
