The Kai Tak Mall, part of the new Kai Tak Sports Park complex opening in Hong Kong, is set to house a new indoor amusement park operated by CA Sega Joypolis.

CA Sega Joypolis operates Tokyo Joypolis, the largest indoor amusement park in Japan, and the Kai Tak Mall opening will mark its first flagship venue outside of Japan.

‘Joypolis Sports Indoor Spotainment Park’ will span five storeys and nearly 30,000 square feet. It has been specially designed for Kai Tak Sports Park and will feature over 20 attractions.

The park will feature three key themed zones: Ninja Dojo Zone, which will include fitness and intelligence challenges; a Sonic the Hedgehog-themed zone; and Future Arena Zone, which will feature mixed-reality technology and other immersive experiences.

The Sonic zone will feature an interactive playground aimed at children aged up to six. The playground will feature kid-friendly games such as the bouncy ‘Air Dome’, while adults and teenagers can also take part in races and matches in the Sonic Athletics area.

Other features will include a top-floor restaurant, while Joypolis Sports will also collaborate with popular Japanese brands and IPs to launch exclusive events featuring limited merchandise and souvenirs.

Takeshi Yoshimoto, chief executive of CA Sega Joypolis, said: “Opening the first authorised Joypolis Sports flagship outside Japan in Hong Kong is a significant step in our global expansion. We selected Kai Tak Sports Park and its Kai Tak Mall for its excellent location and first-class facilities, which are sure to attract many local and international visitors.

“We believe this new indoor amusement park, which combines cutting-edge technology and innovative entertainment elements, will bring unprecedented entertainment experiences and surprises to all visitors.”

Kai Tak Mall will serve as a “core facility” of the 28-hectare Kai Tak Sports Park, which will be anchored by a 50,000-seat Main Stadium and will also include a 10,000-seat arena and the 5,000-capacity Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground.

In June, it was revealed that Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground is nearing completion following the installation of a ‘lay-and-play’ turf system. A winter testing period is scheduled for Kai Tak Sports Park later this year.

Kai Tak Sports Park will host TheStadiumBusiness Asia from October 16-18. Click here for more details.
