Northern Irish football club Institute has announced the submission of a full planning application for a new stadium.
Institute, which finished runner-up in the NIFL Championship last season, missing out on promotion to the Premier Division through the play-offs, is proposing a Community Sports and Wellbeing Hub at Clooney Park West in Londonderry.
At the centre of this development will be a community football stadium with 4G playing surface offering an initial total spectator capacity of 2,097. A main spectator stand will accommodate 1,116 spectators with four commercial units. Two additional spectator stands will accommodate a further 981 spectators.
Additional development entails a MUGA 4G playing surface and fencing, four cricket wickets and netting.
Institute is currently playing its games at Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium, the home of Premier Division club Derry City.
In 2017, the club was forced to move out of Riverside Stadium, its home since 1980, after severe flooding led to the closure of the facility.
Gravity Architects and MCI Planning and Development are working with Institute on its new stadium vision.
