Major League Soccer team Inter Miami has announced that it will move into its new Miami Freedom Park stadium in 2026, as more renderings of the venue were released.
The club had previously planned on moving into the new stadium for the 2025 season, but this will not be the case. Inter Miami will continue playing at the temporary Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale until the end of the 2025 campaign.
Construction commenced on Miami Freedom Park in August 2023. The wide-ranging entertainment district will be anchored by a new 25,000-seat stadium.
The district will span 131 acres and will feature a 58-acre public park, the largest activated park in Miami. The district will also feature youth athletic fields for the community, as well as entertainment-based retail and attractions, hotels, shops, office space, and an entertainment venue.
Construction on the first phase of Miami Freedom Park will be completed in stages, starting from late 2025. This will include the stadium, the public park, roadway and parking infrastructure, and additional entertainment and hospitality concepts within the district.
The second phase of the district will be marked by the opening of additional anchor retail and entertainment concepts, along with a curated selection of the best food and beverage concepts. This is scheduled to open in 2026 to coincide with the FIFA World Cup, which the US will co-host alongside Canada and Mexico.
Inter Miami said that leasing and commercial partnership efforts are underway to attract “best-in-class” partners, tenants and retailers to the new stadium project.
Jorge Mas, managing owner of Inter Miami, said: “The next stages of the Miami Freedom Park project bring us closer to reaching our dream of making it the official home of Inter Miami CF. Embodying our ethos of ‘Freedom to Dream,’ we’ve been diligently building something extraordinary – a place where every fan will cherish unforgettable fútbol moments. As we look ahead to the opening of our new stadium, we eagerly anticipate creating a world-class venue that reflects our passion, commitment, and the collective dreams of our South Florida community.”
In February, US financial services company JPMorgan Chase acquired naming rights to Inter Miami’s current home in Fort Lauderdale. The 21,500-capacity stadium had been known as DRV PNK Stadium since April 2021 as part of a deal with automotive retailer AutoNation that was intended to highlight the fight against cancer.
Chase has a visible presence throughout the stadium but it is unclear whether the company’s deal will extend to cover the new venue at Miami Freedom Park.
Inter Miami is co-owned by David Beckham and its squad features star names such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets. Messi’s contract is due to expire at the end of the 2025 season.
