Crystal Palace has claimed a first for English football after announcing plans to introduce vision enhancement technology for fans with sight loss during Saturday’s Premier League match against Manchester United.
Palace has teamed up with GiveVision and Shared Access to launch the technology, which allows home and away fans with sight loss to experience the match in a new way. The GiveVision headset, which is powered by a private 5G network designed and installed by Shared Access, streams live match footage directly to fans in real time.
The system delivers an immersive stereoscopic feed to the working part of the user’s retina, enhancing remaining vision and enabling them to follow the game in “unprecedented” detail. The system will be boosted by the speed and reliability of Selhurst Park’s 5G network.
