Consumer electronics company Samsung has announced the completion of a multi-year project to enhance the fan experience at Citi Field, home of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.
Samsung partnered with the Mets back in 2021 with the aim of transforming Citi Field into the “most technologically advanced” ballpark in MLB.
The stadium now features over 1,300 LCD displays and over 29,800 square feet of new LED displays, totalling 40 million pixels. Samsung said the upgrades will provide an “unforgettable, immersive experience” for fans, as well as enhance team practice and digital out-of-home advertising for brand partners.
The Mets have replaced previous static signage at Citi Field with new digital displays. Ribbon boards now wrap around multiple levels of the seating bowl and deliver real-time statistics, player data and messages during games.

Last year, Samsung and the Mets unveiled a huge new centrefield scoreboard at Citi Field, which is said to be the biggest display of its kind in MLB. The scoreboard is equivalent in size to about 450 65-inch Samsung TVs.
The Mets manage the scoreboard from a Samsung-powered 4K control room, where staff can synchronise content to fly across the entire network of displays. The scoreboards are also used as a coaching tool during batting practices for night games.

David Phelps, head of Samsung’s display division, said: “As a landmark for baseball and of New York City, Citi Field represents the very best in live sports experiences. The New York Mets have set new standards for in-stadium technology and what ticketholders can expect at the ballpark. With cutting-edge displays that boost fan engagement, amplify the energy in the stands and unlock unique advertising possibilities, every visit to Citi Field leaves a lasting impression.”
Oscar Fernandez, senior vice-president of technology at the Mets, added: “Samsung has been a true partner in our digital transformation journey not only from a hardware perspective but also through a shared vision for reinventing the stadium experience. Today, we can create remarkable experiences using the latest, best-in-class technologies to benefit our fans, the coaching staff, players and brand partners. There is now no better show than coming to Citi Field.”
