Haslam Sports Group (HSG), parent company of the Cleveland Browns, has unveiled plans for a mixed-use neighbourhood at its CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in the city of Berea, amid ongoing intrigue over the NFL team’s long-term stadium future.
The Browns have their practice facility and team headquarters at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus, with Berea located around 20 miles away from its Huntington Bank Field stadium in downtown Cleveland.
Unveiled yesterday (Tuesday), the District 46 scheme sees HSG unite with Berea City Schools, City of Berea, DiGeronimo Companies and University Hospitals (UH). An expansion of the existing footprint of the Browns in Berea, the new neighbourhood will be over 16 acres and utilised for a variety of spaces benefiting the region with an anticipated opening in early 2027.

At a reported cost of more than $150m (£115.4m/€138.4m), District 46 will be developed by Ohio-based DiGeronimo Companies and will include a community field for youth, high school, and adult sports; an upscale hotel that will be developed in partnership with Crawford Hoying and operated by Shaner Hotel Group; a sports medicine facility operated by the team health-system partner, UH; market-rate apartments; a field house for community use; a parking garage; and 30,000 square feet of retail space.
“The City of Berea and Mayor (Cyril) Kleem have been incredible partners to us at the Browns and the Haslam Sports Group, and we’re thrilled to work with them on this expansion project that will benefit so many members of our neighbourhood,” said Haslam Sports Group chief operating officer, David Jenkins.
“We’re thrilled to be working with local developer DiGeronimo and additional partners University Hospitals and Berea City Schools on District 46 at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus and know this development will be transformative for this community.”

Kleem added: “For our residents and our community, these new spaces will continue to enhance all our city has to offer and will bring new opportunities for growth that we’re extremely excited about.”
On Monday, renderings emerged of a proposed stadium for the Browns on the site of Burke Lakefront Airport, two weeks after the team announced plans to pursue a move to a new $2.4bn domed stadium in Brook Park.
The renderings, which depict a 70,000-seat stadium, have been designed by Vocon Architects. The renderings were commissioned by Destination Cleveland, a non-profit destination marketing and management organisation for Cuyahoga County.
The Browns currently play at Huntington Bank Field, which is a short walk from Burke Lakefront Airport. Earlier this month, the team signalled its intention to move to a new domed stadium in Brook Park, which is located around nine miles southwest of Huntington Bank Field.
Last week, the saga took another turn as the Browns decided to take legal action against the City of Cleveland regarding a law which seeks to impede the relocation of sports teams.
