Immersive technology company Cosm has announced that it will open its fourth sports experiential sports viewing venue in Detroit.

After opening its first two venues in Los Angeles (Hollywood Park) and Dallas (Grandscape), and announcing its third venue location in Atlanta (Centennial Yards), the next location will be in downtown Detroit, adjacent to Campus Martius.

Each venue presents so-called ‘Shared Reality’ – an experience that bridges the virtual and physical worlds by merging state-of-the-art visuals with the energy of the crowd, hospitality, and a food and beverage service.

FIFA and Hawk-Eye Innovations have joined forces to establish a Football Technology Centre joint venture that will explore and develop emerging technologies in football.

The venture will focus on the generation of algorithms to automate the detection of on-pitch events for optimal decision-making.

Besides the automated collection of event data, the link-up will involve the development of automated offside technology that instantly provides match officials with consistent and accurate information.
