The University of South Florida (USF) has marked the commencement of work on its new on-campus stadium by unveiling new renderings.

The renderings showcase three new viewpoints inside and outside the 35,000-capacity stadium, and an evening view of the student section.

A ground-breaking ceremony is being held today, with the Populous-designed venue scheduled to be completed in autumn 2027 after being commissioned in 2023. The stadium will serve as the home of USF’s American football team, the Bulls, which currently play at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium.

The rendering of the student section (main image), which includes all stadium west-side seating, shows the iconic “Bull U” logo. It highlights a DJ deck and dedicated student-only concessions.

The image of the north lawn area (above) shows it as a vibrant, walkable area adjacent to scenic trails and a lush tree canopy, making for a unique entrance to the stadium.

The shaded home stands on the stadium’s south side (above) are designed to elevate the fan experience by focusing on comfort and convenience. The lower and main bowls on that side will serve as the home stands for USF fans. Premium seating, including club and private suites, will also be on the stadium’s south side. A covered rooftop patio will give fans a unique experience atop the stadium.

The on-campus stadium’s concourse (above), located 10 rows up from the field, is designed to keep fans engaged with the game regardless of their vantage point. The concourse will feature stadium concessions, providing easy access to refreshments and food while keeping fans connected to the action on the field.

Unparalleled fan experience

“We are thrilled to bring our on-campus stadium vision closer to reality, and these new renderings give Bulls fans an exciting glimpse into the game day experience awaiting them,” said Michael Kelly, vice-president for athletics.

“Our priority is to deliver an unparalleled fan experience. Key features of the stadium, such as the inviting north lawn, southside premium tower, and expansive concourse, are specifically designed to enhance comfort and offer unique amenities that cater to our community. This stadium is truly being designed by USF, for USF, reflecting valuable input from our students, alumni, Bulls Nation, and the greater Tampa Bay community to elevate the overall experience.”

Populous has led design for the stadium project, while Manhattan Construction Company, H.J. Russell & Company and DuCon, LLC will serve as the construction manager for the new stadium. The construction team has worked with college and professional stadiums throughout the country, numerous facilities in the Tampa Bay region and state of Florida and has previously partnered on more than $1.2 billion in projects with Populous.
