Stadium Australia and Western Sydney Stadium in Sydney, the Perth Stadium and the Perth Rectangular Stadium, and the Gold Coast Stadium have been chosen to host matches at the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup.

The venues were decided at the Asian Football Confederation Women’s Football Committee meeting in the Malaysian Capital of Kuala Lumpur.

The tournament is set to take place in Australia from March 1-21 following the country’s successful hosting of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“The Albanese Government is proud to bring the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to Australia, and with it, another A$15m investment in women’s sport,” said Federal Minister for Sport Annika Wells.

“We saw what the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup did for our communities – it brought people together, inspired more Australians to be active, and put women’s sport centre stage. The Tillies showed us what we can achieve when we rally behind them, and we’re committed to keeping that momentum going.”

Venues such as the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium and Brisbane Stadium were unsuccessful due to scheduled A-League and National Rugby League games.

Gold Coast Stadium had never hosted an international football match until Australia’s men’s team played its third-round World Cup qualifier against Bahrain there in September.

“We see a big opportunity to continue to grow the participation of players in Queensland and certainly on the Gold Coast, we’re very happy we’ve landed on this decision to be on the Gold Coast,” said Football Australia chief executive James Johnson.

“These venues not only showcase Australia’s elite sporting infrastructure but also hold a rich legacy in our sport, with some great moments being played at these stadiums.”
