Spanish third-tier football club CF Intercity has teamed up with premium experiences company Legends on a project to deliver a new multi-purpose stadium complex in Alicante.

The site will be capable of hosting sport and music events, with plans for it to serve as an “important economic attraction” for the city and the wider Valencian Community.

The plans call for the creation of a versatile concert venue and a football stadium to host Intercity matches. Intercity, which competes in the Primera Federación, currently plays its home matches at the 2,000-capacity Estadio Antonio Solana.

Legends will carry out market and feasibility studies for the development of the infrastructure. A business plan, developed by Legends, will be ready within 12 weeks and will include the design of the site, 20-year financial projections, and an analysis of local market conditions.

CF Intercity has also hired DEVESA Abogados to review and advise on all contracts arising from the project. The club added that its board of directors is in advanced negotiations with several investors interested in financing the project.

The club is also in the process of acquiring the land necessary for the construction of the complex, with Legends holding a preferential right for the development and management of the site.

CF Intercity was founded in 2017, with Spanish media reports stating the club is targeting a 20,000-capacity stadium.

Salvador Martí, the club’s president, told COPE that “the necessary investment is €50m (£41.5m/$52.8m) and we estimate that the installation could be completed by the end of 2026 or beginning of 2027”.
