PMY Group, a technology advisory, investment and delivery company, has announced a partnership with Digital Mortar, a US-based crowd intelligence company.

Digital Mortar, which was founded in 2016, has developed a software platform that leverages LiDAR (light detection and ranging) and camera data to visualise and analyse and report on people movement and flow.

Digital Mortar’s technology has been deployed at major venues such as SoFi Stadium. Gary Angel, senior vice-president of digital and growth, and Jesse Gross, head of product and delivery, will lead the integration of Digital Mortar’s capabilities into PMY’s intelligence platform, Optic

Canadian telco Rogers has revealed that Taylor Swift fans used over 11 terabytes of mobile data at Vancouver’s BC Place as the singer held her last concert of The Eras Tour on Sunday.

This shattered the previous record set at her November 21 concert at Rogers Centre in Toronto, when fans used 7.4TB of data on the Rogers 5G network. The data used on December 8 is the equivalent of uploading 307,000 photos and 2,180 hours of video streaming.

Rogers invested C$10m (£5.5m/€6.7m/$7.1m) to enhance 5G connectivity at BC Place ahead of the last show of The Eras Tour. This included a full network redesign and installation of a new in-stadium network system.

The Detroit Pistons NBA franchise has teamed up with immersive AI technology company MeetKai to launch a new virtual arena experience for fans.

Detroit Pistons World will enable fans to sample an exact replica of the Pistons’ home court at Little Caesars Arena. Users will be cheered on by fans as they compete in a mini-game where they can test their skills with a t-shirt cannon, aiming to hit targets and win prizes.

Sky Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand is set to lower its emissions and energy consumption after announcing plans for Ecobulb to replace thousands of lights at the venue.

Ecobulb will replace the existing light fittings with energy-efficient LED luminaires across the stadium. It is hoped the transition will support Sky Stadium’s shift to a low-carbon energy future.

The tech-focused TGL golf league has announced Samsung as its official screen partner.

TGL’s custom-built SoFi Center arena will feature Samsung’s LED displays to enhance the visual experience across TGL’s season of matches. Displays will include a marquee outdoor video wall, field of play video boards, field of play ribbon boards, and team benches.

Notre Dame Stadium has become the first outdoor university venue to move to Wi-Fi 6E standard.

The technology will be rolled out for the college football playoff game between the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University on December 20. The University of Notre Dame’s office of information technology partnered with PIER Group to overhaul the stadium’s wireless network.
