The Savannah Bananas expedition baseball team has appointed Daktronics to fit a new LED display at Grayson Stadium, its home venue.
The display will be fitted this winter and will debut in 2025. The display will measure more than 26 feet high by 47 feet wide and will feature a 10-millimetre pixel spacing.
The screen will also be capable of variable content zoning, allowing it to show one large image or be divided into multiple zones, including live video, instant replays, game information and statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages. The Bananas will also receive a content package to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
Telecommunications company Liberty has partnered with Costa Rican football team Club Herediano to deliver what is claimed to be the first smart stadium in Central America.
The club’s new 12,000-capacity stadium in Heredia will be fitted with Liberty’s 5G network and fibre optics. Fans will have access to free high-speed Wi-Fi, with the stadium to also be fitted with AI surveillance tools to analyse fan behaviour.
Cantaloupe, a provider of end-to-end technology solutions for self-service commerce, has agreed a deal with Major League Soccer team San Jose Earthquakes.
Cantaloupe will serve as the official point-of-sale provider for all games and events at PayPal Park. The deal will include technology solutions and Cantaloupe’s Suites premium management system. The partnership will launch for the 2025 MLS season.
Spartan Stadium, home of Michigan State University’s American football team, will be fitted with three new video boards as part of a wider upgrade project.
The new screens are set to be fitted in time for the start of the 2025 college football season. Other upgrades will include renovated restroom facilities, updates to seating, flooring and concessions, enhanced safety and security measures, and improved seating.
The Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), a long-time home to Major League Baseball’s youth development programmes, is being fitted with a new lighting system and special effects technology courtesy of Musco Lighting.
The upgrades will cover the complex’s Holman Stadium. Musco has worked with JRTC on previous lighting field projects at the complex.
