Telecommunications company O2 has renewed its sponsorship of Prague’s O2 Arena.
O2 has agreed a new five-year deal with Bestsport, which operates the 20,000-capacity arena. The deal also includes O2 Universum, a nearby conference centre.
As part of the agreement, O2 customers will receive exclusive benefits such as priority ticket purchases, accelerated entry into the arena, and parking reservations.
O2 Arena is a multi-purpose venue, hosting music and sporting events throughout the year. Earlier this month, it was named as a host venue for the Men’s EHF Euro 2030 handball tournament, and it recently staged two NHL games as part of the league’s Global Series.
O2 took on naming rights to the arena in 2008. The venue was previously sponsored by betting company Sazka.
Robert Schaffer, director of Bestsport, said: “The O2 Arena has been named after the largest mobile operator in the Czech Republic for 16 years, and I am very pleased that it will remain so until at least 2029.
“Our long-term goal is to bring the most interesting programme possible, which will attract the largest possible number of visitors every year. I see O2’s interest in continuing the cooperation as proof that we are succeeding in achieving this goal, and at the same time as a great commitment to continue to maintain this cooperation at a mutually beneficial level.”
In other sponsorship news, National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team North Carolina Courage has announced First Horizon Bank as the naming-rights partner of its 10,000-seat stadium.
The stadium forms part of the WakeMed Soccer Park complex. The multi-year deal rebrands the venue as First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park.
The naming rights are exclusive to the stadium, with WakeMed retaining naming rights to the wider park. Earlier this year, First Horizon Bank agreed a deal to become the Courage’s official banking partner.
The stadium is also home to North Carolina FC of the USL Championship and hosts various collegiate and high school sporting events throughout the year.
First Horizon Bank’s expanded deal includes planned investment in permanent branding around the stadium and newly constructed signage outside of the venue’s northeast gate main entrance.
The Courage and First Horizon Bank will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony upon completing the planned stadium enhancements in early 2025.
