Dave Kaval has stepped down as president of the Athletics as the Major League Baseball team prepares to relocate from Oakland to Las Vegas.

Kaval had served as president of the A’s for eight years but his last day with the team was on December 31. He leaves with the team in the process of building a new ballpark in Las Vegas.

Sandy Dean, a long-time business partner with the Fisher family, which owns the A’s, will serve as interim president. Dean has worked with the A’s since John Fisher and his family became owners in 2005.

The A’s are set to move to a new 33,000-capacity ballpark in Las Vegas ahead of the 2028 MLB season. The team played out its final season at the Oakland Coliseum last year and will spend the 2025 to 2027 campaigns at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.

Kaval previously served as president of Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes, playing a key role in the development of PayPal Park. He has also served as vice-chairman of the San Jose Sports Commission.

Kaval said: “I will be staying in California to explore new opportunities at the crossroads of business and government. I am grateful to A’s ownership for the opportunities they have given me.”

Elsewhere, CTS Eventim has appointed Marijke van den Bosch to oversee all ticketing activities in the Benelux region.

The role will cover the See Tickets and Eventim Netherlands brands. Van den Bosch currently serves as chief executive of See Tickets Benelux and will continue to report to Alexander Ruoff, chief operating officer of CTS Eventim.

Henk Schuit, managing director of CTS Eventim Netherlands, stepped down at the end of 2024 by mutual agreement after 20 years with the company.

Van den Bosch said: “I would like to thank Alexander and the CTS Eventim board for their trust, as well as Henk for his achievements over the past two decades. He has built a strong foundation for CTS Eventim Netherlands, which I am proud to build upon. I am excited to take on this role, lead the talented teams in Benelux, and contribute to the continued growth of CTS Eventim in the region.”

CTS Eventim completed the acquisition of See Tickets, including its associated live entertainment business, from Vivendi in June last year.
