Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, has been announced as the host venue for the 2027 College Football Playoff National Championship game.

The game will take place on January 25, 2027. Las Vegas will become the third Pacific time zone city to host the game, after the 2019 and 2023 editions, which were held at Levi’s Stadium and SoFi Stadium, respectively.

The announcement was made on Friday as Shin Lim, a Las Vegas Strip magician, appeared in a video performing an illusion at the iconic ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign. The face of the sign was changed, and Lim revealed a new message welcoming the CFP National Championship game to the city.

This year’s National Championship game took place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, while the 2026 game will be played at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

Steve Hill, president and chief executive of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), said: “Pairing the energy of Las Vegas with the College Football Playoff National Championship will make for a truly extraordinary event, both on and off the field. We appreciate the opportunity the CFP has provided us to welcome college football’s greatest athletes and biggest fans for an unmatched national championship experience in the city built for celebration.”

Rich Clark, executive director of the College Football Playoff, added: “College football fans across the country are going to be thrilled to hear this news today. Las Vegas has shown the world they have amazing venues and boundless energy to host an event like the College Football Playoff National Championship in spectacular fashion.

“I can’t think of a better stage to crown the best team in college football in 2027. I also want to thank Steve Hill and the entire Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for the hard work and dedication they put into making this day a reality for their city.”

Allegiant Stadium hosted the Super Bowl in 2024 and will stage WrestleMania in April. The stadium is also used by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ American football team.
