The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the nine stadiums that will host matches during the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco.

The largest stadium will be the Grand Stade de Tangier, which has a capacity of 75,600. The next largest will be the 69,500-capacity Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah (pictured) in Rabat.

Rabat will have another three host venues: Stade Al Barid (18,000 capacity), Stade Olympique Annexe Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah (21,000 capacity) and Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay EL Hassan (22,000 capacity).

Other venues include Casablanca’s Complexe Sportif Mohammed V (45,000 capacity), Grand Stade de Marrakech (41,245 capacity), Grand Stade d’Agadir (41,144 capacity), and Complexe Sportif de Fès (35,468).

Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah will host the opening match, a quarter-final, a semi-final and the final. The other semi-final will be held in Tangier, while Complexe Sportif de Fès, Grand Stade de Marrakech and Complexe Sportif Mohammed V will host quarter-final matches.

Stade Al Barid will host matches in the round of 16 stage, while Stade Olympique Annexe Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdellah will host the third-place playoff.

Morocco will host the Cup of Nations from December 21 to January 18. It will mark the first time Morocco has staged the tournament since 1988.

Morocco will also co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. Last week, Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), claimed that a new 115,000-capacity stadium in Casablanca could be ready by 2027.

The venue will become the largest football stadium in the world once completed and the FRMF is hopeful that it will be selected to host the World Cup final.

Morocco’s other proposed stadiums for the World Cup are Grand Stade d’Agadir, Stade de Fès, Grand Stade de Marrakech, Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah and Grand Stade de Tangier.

Work on upgrading the stadiums in Rabat and Tangier is set to be carried out in the coming months. The venues in Marrakech, Fez and Agadir will be upgraded after the Africa Cup of Nations.
